Aaron To Perform For Paralyzed Veterans On Veterans Day
If you remember, Aaron is the National Spokesperson for PVA’s Disabled Outdoor Sports Program . It couldn't be more appropriate that he performs for three paralyzed veterans on Veterans Day during PVA's event to Honor Paralyzed Iraqi Freedom Veterans on the 50th Anniversary of Veterans Day. And, please remember all our veterans on Veteran's Day with a moment of thanks. It's their sacrifices that give us our freedoms.Veterans Day is especially important for me. My daddy and my mama are both veterans, and although not PVA, they are both DAVs (Disabled American Veteran). In fact, my daddy and my mama met in a VA hospital in Walla Walla, WA.

In Washington: -- Operation Iraqi Freedom Veterans. PVA will host three paralyzed vets who were injured between March and May 2003, while on active duty in Iraq. The Army and Marine Corps veterans, who range in age from 20 to 35 years of age, will be joined by family members for the events commemorating Veterans Day. All have been honorably discharged, and are back home in the states. On Nov. 11, these three special guests will attend a White House Breakfast (8 a.m.), the ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery (11 a.m.) and a reception at PVA's national headquarters. VA Secretary Anthony Principi will speak and country recording artist Aaron Tippin will perform (1:30-3:30 p.m.). The Operation Iraqi Freedom veterans are comfortable and adept telling their stories on camera.
-- Lone Star PVA Wheelchair Honor Guard. Formed by paralyzed veterans in Texas three years ago, this unit appears at military funerals when the government is unable to provide rifle teams. Currently, demand for these services far outpaces the number of military funerals. The Lone Star Honor Guard has members who have served in Vietnam and in the Gulf War of 1990-91. They will perform at the Vietnam Women's Memorial Candlelight Ceremony on Nov. 10, 6-7:30 p.m., at the Vietnam Women's Memorial. At 11 a.m. on Nov. 11, the honor guard will be at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial for a Color Guard Review, followed by participation in the Annual Observance at the Wall (1 p.m.).

The Paralyzed Veterans of America, a veterans service organization chartered by Congress, has for more than 55 years served the needs of its members, all of whom have catastrophic paralysis caused by spinal cord injury or disease. To learn more about PVA, visit its web site at http://www.pva.org.

Aaron And Paducah, KY
Love those Aaron Tippin shows at the Executive Inns in Kentucky! Great venue with show, rooms, dining all in one location. And, the Executive Inns (there are 2 - one in Paducah and one in Owensboro, KY -- BTW: Aaron is scheduled to perform in Owensboro on 15 Nov 2003) are one of those venues that draw tons of long-time, dedicated Aaron Tippin fans which makes for one big fun-filled reunion. Not only are the venue and the fans great, but it's also one of the venues which Aaron brings Thea and the boys. Since Aaron brought his family to the show, we had the pleasure of hearing Aaron and Thea sing their duet, "Love Like There's No Tomorrow." Then, for the encore, Aaron sang "Where The Stars And Stripes And The Eagle Fly." He saved the best for last when he brought Thea, Teddy, Thomas and a young friend on stage for "Kiss This." Teddy came on stage with a flute and Thomas came on stage with a guitar. Teddy is a pretty seasoned veteran, but this is only the second time I have seen Thomas on stage with a guitar, and boy, was getting into strumming that guitar. In fact, Aaron had a tough time getting Thomas off the stage. Really cute!
Unfortunately, I will not have any photos of Thea, Teddy and Thomas to share with you. Too bad; I was right in front of the stage. My camera died mid-way through the show. Probably needs a proper burial, with Tippin honors, of course. I have dragged this 35mm camera around to many, many shows over the last 5-6 years, so it has served me well. I have posted a few photos from the early part of the show for y'all to enjoy on my site:
