Aaron Tippin is leaving today for Afghanistan, where he'll remain through December 3rd. While exact locations remain under wraps for security reasons, Aaron and his band will be playing for U.S. troops in several areas within the country. Aaron wouldn't miss the opportunity to serve his country, but it means he will miss Thanksgiving with his family.
He'll also be out of the country when his son, Thomas, observes his second birthday. Aaron says his wife isn't thrilled about his assignment, noting, quote, "She's a wife and gonna worry, but she understands. She's as patriotic as I am."
Aaron says that being able to serve his country is what it's all about. Afghanistan will be Aaron's second time performing in a war zone. He went with Bob Hope to perform for the American troops during the Gulf War, which Aaron says is his top gig of all-time.
