AARON TIPPIN ON HIS FAVORITE CHRISTMAS PRESENT AS A CHILD

"I remember very little of it - but one of my Christmas presents at about age 4 was a little pedal jet (plane).  You got on it and you pedaled it and it was a jet.  Cool.  'Cause you know my dad was a flight instructor on T-37s and this was a T-33 but it looked like a T-37 so I thought I was Dad."

MAY YOU HAVE A VERY MERRY AND MEMORABLE CHRISTMAS

Aaron And 1st Flight Centennial Celebration

As many of you know, Aaron and the guys were chosen to participate and perform in this major historical event, the First Flight Centennial Celebration, which commemorates the 100th anniversary of Wilbur and Orville Wright's first successful powered flight.  Aaron and the guys performed during Monday's (15 December 2003) event, 'Protecting The Home Of The Brave.'  This event celebrated and honored the men and women who developed and flew military aircraft over the past 100 years.  Needless to say, Aaron and the guys put on a dynamite show.  Aaron closed the show with two songs, his patriotic 'Where The Stars And Stripes And The Eagle Fly' as two F-15s 'swooped over the stage, their afterburners flashing while they rose into the sky' (Virginian Pilot), and 'Kiss This.'

Aaron also participated in Tuesday's (16 December 2003) event, 'In History's Footsteps, Celebrating 100 Aviation Pioneers.'  This event recognized 100 aviation heros, as selected by the First Flight Centennial Commission.  Aaron closed the ceremony by singing, 'Where The Stars And Stripes And The Eagle Fly' as a bald eagle was released and flew over the Wright monument.

Since my busy season has started (but is not in full force, yet), I was only able to go to Aaron's show on Monday.  I would have loved to been in Kill Devil the whole week.....  Anyway, I will be posting a few photos from Aaron's show plus a few from the First Flight Centennial Celebration.  You'll have to check out Aaron's attire; the show was outdoors on an open stage.  The day was sunny, bright and beautiful, but with a very chilly wind.

Aaron Featured On Cover Of October 2003 Paraplegia News Magazine

Per Paraplegia News Magazine:

Paralyzed Veterans of America's Outdoor Sports Program

The following message is from PVA Senior National Service Officer Jim Sifers, who hails from Waco, Tex.

"[We will offer] a new series of articles dedicated to the sport of hunting. Our main emphasis will be on hunting for those who have mobility impairments and/or other disabilities.
"We would like to attempt to show that hunting is a feasible sport, no matter what your disability. The focus will be on advising PVA members what is being done to secure property for hunting and the procedures involved.
"We want to make this an interactive service and, therefore, request your input at any time concerning issues for sportsmen and -women with disabilities. We will offer articles concerning mobility into the hunting areas, proper weaponry and use, sportsmanship, and the need to assist each other in these endeavors. Doug Warren, of PVA Sports, and I look forward to providing information on locations, equipment, and hunting techniques."

Aaron recently became a spokesperson for paralyzed veterans at PVA’s Annual Convention last August.  His main role as spokesperson will be to promote opportunities available through the PVA Outdoor Sports Program.  Seems to me PVA's Outdoor Sports Program is off to a grand start with country music star Aaron Tippin featured on this issue's cover as a heralded participant.  Copies of the issue (Oct 2003, Vol #57, Issue #10) with Aaron on the cover are available for order:

www.pvamagazines.com

From the top menu, select THE MAGAZINE, select PREVIOUS ISSUES, finally click on OCTOBER 2003 cover.

Please remember to keep our military personnel overseas, their families and friends, in your thoughts and prayers, especially during this holiday season.  They and their sacrifices are the reason we have our precious freedoms.

Aaron Tippin and CC McCartney produced a Christmas Special (commercial free) free to stations which is now available for download.  Please encourage your local station to air this special, A December to Remember! The Aaron Tippin Christmas Special.  CC McCartney Voice Imaging did a great job.  Check it out, by clicking on:

CC McCartney Voice Imaging

You will not want to miss this Aaron Tippin special.  What a great way to bring in the Christmas holidays!  There are four files which include songs from Aaron's Christmas CD, A December To Remember plus plenty of interview clips on what each song means to Aaron.  Also included is Aaron's thoughts on his tour to Afghanistan in 2002.  Really, really great stuff!  With Christmas nearing, this special couldn't be more appropriate.  Enjoy.

If you haven't picked up your copy of Aaron's Christmas CD, A December To Remember, now would be a good time to do it.  Of all the Christmas CDs out there, this is one of the best.  It includes many songs that were written by Aaron (some with Thea and/or Ricky), plus a few traditional favorites.

Aaron And CMT 40 Greatest Drinking Songs: Morning After

AARON TO PERFORM FOR PARALYZED VETERANS ON VETERANS DAY
AARON AND PADUCAH, KY
06 NOV 2003

Aaron To Perform For Paralyzed Veterans On Veterans Day

If you remember, Aaron is the National Spokesperson for PVA’s Disabled Outdoor Sports Program .  It couldn't be more appropriate that he performs for three paralyzed veterans on Veterans Day during PVA's event to Honor Paralyzed Iraqi Freedom Veterans on the 50th Anniversary of Veterans Day.  And, please remember all our veterans on Veteran's Day with a moment of thanks.  It's their sacrifices that give us our freedoms.

Veterans Day is especially important for me.  My daddy and my mama are both veterans, and although not PVA, they are both DAVs (Disabled American Veteran).  In fact, my daddy and my mama met in a VA hospital in Walla Walla, WA.

In Washington:  -- Operation Iraqi Freedom Veterans. PVA will host three paralyzed vets who were injured between March and May 2003, while on active duty in Iraq. The Army and Marine Corps veterans, who range in age from 20 to 35 years of age, will be joined by family members for the events commemorating Veterans Day. All have been honorably discharged, and are back home in the states. On Nov. 11, these three special guests will attend a White House Breakfast (8 a.m.), the ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery (11 a.m.) and a reception at PVA's national headquarters. VA Secretary Anthony Principi will speak and country recording artist Aaron Tippin will perform (1:30-3:30 p.m.). The Operation Iraqi Freedom veterans are comfortable and adept telling their stories on camera.

-- Lone Star PVA Wheelchair Honor Guard. Formed by paralyzed veterans in Texas three years ago, this unit appears at military funerals when the government is unable to provide rifle teams. Currently, demand for these services far outpaces the number of military funerals. The Lone Star Honor Guard has members who have served in Vietnam and in the Gulf War of 1990-91. They will perform at the Vietnam Women's Memorial Candlelight Ceremony on Nov. 10, 6-7:30 p.m., at the Vietnam Women's Memorial. At 11 a.m. on Nov. 11, the honor guard will be at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial for a Color Guard Review, followed by participation in the Annual Observance at the Wall (1 p.m.).

------

The Paralyzed Veterans of America, a veterans service organization chartered by Congress, has for more than 55 years served the needs of its members, all of whom have catastrophic paralysis caused by spinal cord injury or disease. To learn more about PVA, visit its web site at http://www.pva.org.

Aaron And Paducah, KY

Love those Aaron Tippin shows at the Executive Inns in Kentucky!  Great venue with show, rooms, dining all in one location.  And, the Executive Inns (there are 2 - one in Paducah and one in Owensboro, KY -- BTW: Aaron is scheduled to perform in Owensboro on 15 Nov 2003) are one of those venues that draw tons of long-time, dedicated Aaron Tippin fans which makes for one big fun-filled reunion.

Not only are the venue and the fans great, but it's also one of the venues which Aaron brings Thea and the boys.  Since Aaron brought his family to the show, we had the pleasure of hearing Aaron and Thea sing their duet, "Love Like There's No Tomorrow."  Then, for the encore, Aaron sang "Where The Stars And Stripes And The Eagle Fly."  He saved the best for last when he brought Thea, Teddy, Thomas and a young friend on stage for "Kiss This."  Teddy came on stage with a flute and Thomas came on stage with a guitar.  Teddy is a pretty seasoned veteran, but this is only the second time I have seen Thomas on stage with a guitar, and boy, was getting into strumming that guitar.  In fact, Aaron had a tough time getting Thomas off the stage.  Really cute!

Unfortunately, I will not have any photos of Thea, Teddy and Thomas to share with you.  Too bad; I was right in front of the stage.  My camera died mid-way through the show.  Probably needs a proper burial, with Tippin honors, of course.  I have dragged this 35mm camera around to many, many shows over the last 5-6 years, so it has served me well.  I have posted a few photos from the early part of the show for y'all to enjoy on my site:
