‘Where The Stars And Stripes And The Eagle Fly’
(Aaron Tippin/Kenny Beard/Casey Beathard)

This song was written two years before 9/11.  It seemed very appropriate at the time.  Originally this song was supposed to go on the People Like Us album and it didn't.  I don't think everyone believed at the time it was the type of song we ought to be doing.  The important thing is it didn't go on the album.  I didn't know why and I was a little disappointed at the time.  Now I realize exactly why it didn't make that album because it had a bigger purpose.  That single, all the proceeds from myself and Lyric Street went to the aid through the American Red Cross to the folks that were hardshiped by the terrorist tragedy.  The most important thing is that country fans went out and bought that record to help their friends, the other Americans who needed their help at the time.   That's really common of what real country fans are really like.

‘I'll Take Love Over Money'
(Bob Dipiero/Tony Mullins)

It's probably one of my favorite cuts on the album.  When we turned that song in, everybody was really jazzed about it.  I thought it was a cool way of putting it.  That's what's you have to hunt for in a song, saying it in a different way.

‘I Believed’
(Jeffrey Steele)

That's a great philosophy song.  Surely on the album you have to have one of those deep thinkers and that's it on this album.  Jeffrey Steele wrote it.  I'm his biggest fan.  I think he's one of the greatest songwriters that's ever come down the pike.

‘Honky Tonk If You Love Country'
(Bob Dipiero/Ed Hill/Mark D. Sanders)

It's a fun little song.  When I heard it I thought it was just a good little happy tune that I think people will really dig listening to.  It's our little happy song on the album.

‘If Her Loving Don't Kill Me'
(Tim Womack/John Rich/Vicky McGehee)

It's a rockin' little tune.  I think everybody's got to have one of those rockin' little tunes and I think we all need that especially right now.  That one is definitely it.  It's fun to listen to.  When I go back and listen to the album, it's still one of the ones that stands out.

‘Love Like There's No Tomorrow'
(Aaron Tippin/Thea Tippin)

There's something that's become a standard for an Aaron Tippin album, I get the opportunity to sing one with my wife and it's always a great pleasure.  We tried to pick something that's very personal to us and between albums we try to write something that really touches us.  With 9/11, we all started feeling like any moment could be your last moment.  This song is about realizing this could be our last second, you better live and love like there is no tomorrow.  It was just a few days after 9/11 and we were talking about it.  I travel a lot and something could happen easily.  Three quarters of my life I'm moving on some machine and I try to keep in mind that something could happen.  I hope it doesn't but it could and I always try to keep in that in mind.

‘At The End Of The Day'
(Aaron Tippin/Michael P. Heeney)

This is a couple of old pals getting together to write a song.  Heeney had that idea.  We got together at the house and beat it around here and there and made a pretty cool little tune out of it.

‘We Can't Get Any Higher Than This'
(Jeffrey Steele/Ray Herndon)

Rompin' Stompin' high energy tune.  Golly, it's just a high energy song.  When I heard it, I thought "Here's another cool one by Jeffrey Steele."  Ever since two or three albums ago, I get out my metal detector and go Jeffrey Steele searching.

'Five Gallon Tear'
(Dennis Linde)

I've been pitched this song almost every record I've done over the eight or nine years.  I always thought it was a cute and funny song, but I've never did cut it.  Dennis Linde wrote "Ten Pound Hammer" which I cut a while back and I thought it was a cool song.  When it came time to find songs for this album, I listened to Dennis Linde's catalog.  He has some great stuff but this song surfaced again.  I thought there must be a good reason this song keeps turning up.  So I cut it and I'm glad I did.  It's so much fun.  When the time is appropriate, it's going to be a great stage song.

'This Old Couch'
(Aaron Tippin/Ricky Scruggs)

This song is self-explanatory.  All of us guys understand how important our own couch is to us because we end up on it on some occasions.  That's what's its about.  She's mad, you get chased out of the bedroom, and where do you end up?  On the couch watching the late show.  Me and Ricky have been friends and writing together for years and finally we hit on one.  I'm very happy.  It's a pretty big cut for Ricky.

'Love Me Back'
(Aaron Tippin/Thea Tippin/Dana Sigmon/Glenn E. Ashworth)

This is an old song that we wrote three or four years ago.  I wanted to cut this song before, but I don't think everybody was as enthused about it as I was about it.  This year I just decided to do it.  It's one of those gut feelings.  It was time to do it.  I'm real happy with it and glad I cut it.  Let's see what the fans think.
